TeX Go Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-24

This policy explains what information TeX Go (the “App”) handles and why. The App shows no ads, does no tracking or behavioral analytics, and has no accounts or in-app purchases.

1. Documents and compilation

The App compiles your TeX source into a PDF on your device. With this default setting, your source and related files never leave your device.

Only if you turn off “Local Compilation” in Settings does the App compile on a compile server run by the developer (Google Cloud, United States), to support packages and templates that cannot be handled on the device. In that case, your document’s source and the related files in the same folder (.tex, .bib, .sty, .cls, .bst, .cfg, .def, images, PDFs and fonts) are sent over HTTPS. They are used only to generate the PDF, are not stored on the server afterwards, and are never looked at by the developer.

2. Where your documents are stored

The App opens and edits documents in place, in the location you choose, such as the Files app or iCloud Drive. Generated PDFs are saved in the same place. The developer has no access to these documents.

3. Error fixes with Apple Intelligence

Suggested fixes for compile errors are made by the model on your device. Your source and logs are not sent off the device.

4. Package downloads

Additional packages are downloaded from GitHub. Your documents are not sent when downloading.

5. Compile error reports

To improve the App, when a compilation fails the App collects details of the error and sends them to the developer’s server (Cloudflare). Only the following is sent:

  • A random ID and the date and time of each report
  • How the document was compiled (on the device or on the server)
  • The error type and code
  • The name of a missing package or font, or of an undefined command
  • The App and OS versions, and how long the compilation took

The contents of your documents are never sent. Reports contain no source, logs or file locations, and the developer never sees what is in your documents. Nothing that identifies you is sent either.

Reports are deleted after 90 days. You can turn these reports off at any time in the App’s Settings.

6. Information received when you contact us

When you contact us by email from the App, your App and iOS versions and your device model are included in the message, to help us reply and investigate problems.

Messages sent through this site’s contact form reach us through Google Forms (provided by Google LLC): your email address, the category and content of your message, your device and versions if you enter them, and the language the form was shown in and your browser’s language settings.

When you submit the form, Cloudflare Turnstile (provided by Cloudflare, Inc.) and a short-term rate limit are used to prevent automated abuse. IP addresses are hashed and kept for at most one hour for this purpose only.

This information is used only to answer you and to improve the App.

7. Sharing with third parties

Except as required by law, we do not provide the information the App handles to third parties.

8. Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page.
